That second one is Oxalis. Many consider it an awful weed, but the yellow flowers are not entirely unwelcome this time of year. I don't know how it behaves in San Diego, but in northern California it grows all winter and into spring until one day in April when it simply vanishes.

ReplyDeleteNeither Cistus nor Oxalis pes-caprae (the yellow flower) are native to California, both Mediterranean introductions.
ReplyDeleteVery helpful. Seems like a lot of California plants begun in the Mediterranean.
